A drone photo of the historic part of Hartlepool on the County Durham coast, by Stuart Hodgson, aka The Hiking Photographer (www.hikingphotographer.uk).

The Headland is the original part of Hartlepool - which was first called Heruteu ( ‘The Isle of the Hart’" ie. "Stag Island") by the Venerable Bede around 600-700AD,

The name Hartlepool developed from Old English, combining "heort" (stag/hart) and "pōl" (pool), meaning "pool of the stags," likely a watering hole where deer gathered on the headland.
