Heugh Wave Series 2.1
Heugh Wave Series 2.1
An abstract detail of the raw, powerful North Sea, photographed near Heugh Pier on Hartlepool’s historic Headland.
Living by the coast, I’m constantly drawn to the sea. There’s something magnetic about it, and I feel compelled to try and capture the unique beauty of waves as they rise, crash, and collapse in a heartbeat. Each one exists for only a split second before it’s gone forever — never to be repeated, much like the fleeting moments of life itself.
By focusing on these ephemeral details, the waves become a quiet metaphor for life: beautiful precisely because they don’t last.
Whenever the forecast turns rough, I’ll head down to the shoreline with my camera, trying to freeze these brief moments of wild beauty — not just of the sea and nature, but of life itself.
